Sigma link up with the legendary Soul II Soul for Back 2 Life
NEW SINGLE
19 June 2026

UK dance heavyweights Sigma have joined forces with legendary group Soul II Soul for a brand new 2026 release titled “Back 2 Life”, a cross-generational reimagining of one of British music’s most iconic tracks.
The new single, released on 19 June 2026, brings together Sigma’s signature drum & bass energy with the timeless soul of Soul II Soul’s original 1989 anthem Back to Life (However Do You Want Me). The track also features Capo Lee, Zimma, and Liv Campbell, creating a wide-spectrum collaboration that bridges classic UK soul with modern jungle and DnB influence.
Rather than simply remaking the original, Back 2 Life flips the record into a high-energy, club-ready rework built around rolling breakbeats, deep bass pressure, and a refreshed vocal interpretation that nods directly to the original while pushing it into 2026 rave territory.
Early reception highlights the track as a deliberate fusion of eras — bringing together the roots of London’s late-80s sound system culture and today’s underground dance movement. The collaboration reportedly began as a club-focused bootleg from producer Zimma, before gaining official approval from Soul II Soul founder Jazzie B, turning it into a fully sanctioned release.
For Sigma, the record continues a strong run of 2026 output, while for Soul II Soul it marks another moment in a long legacy of revisiting and reinterpreting their landmark catalogue for new audiences. The original Back to Life famously became a global hit and helped define the sound of late-80s London club culture, blending soul, dub, house and hip-hop into something distinctly British and era-defining.
With Back 2 Life, that legacy is extended rather than repeated — connecting generations of UK dance music through one of its most recognisable hooks.
